Look out Norfolk!  Here we come!  This will be the kickoff reunion for the Concord Veterans Association.  CVA members voted overwhelmingly to hold this first reunion in our homeport for many years, Norfolk, Virginia.  If you haven't been to Norfolk in a few years, you are in for a real treat!  Downtown Norfolk is a real gem.  Venues such as the battleship Wisconsin, The Cousteau Museum are impressive.  The Virginia Beach area is unbelievable as the growth of the city has been tremendous.  DamNeck, once an out of the way, remote base is now a major training hub.  Of course, NAS Oceana still reigns as a premiere Master Jet Base.  Since this will be our first get together, we'll be conducting some very important business related to the Association on Saturday morning.  We will formally review/adopt our Association By-Laws, elect officers for the next two years, and most importantly, we will be sharing and reliving some great memories and times from our days serving onboard Concord. We'll wrap up the reunion with a Saturday evening dinner banquet! (menu in brochure). The dinner banquet will be a dress up (coat tie preferred for men & dress or slack suit for the ladies).   The reunion registration fee will cover the cost of the dinner banquet and our planners fee. The registration fee will be $50/person. This is the only required fee to attend reunion (other than being a CVA member).  For those who live in the Norfolk area and will not be staying at the hotels, you will still need to mail in the registration form with your registration fee of $50/person to attend the reunion.

REUNION REGISTRATION BROCHURE/REGISTRATION FORMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!  IT'S TIME TO OPEN, PRINT, AND MAIL IN YOUR REUNION RESERVATION FORM NOW!  MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS NOW!  AVAILABLE TOUR OPTIONS ARE IN BROCHURE.  The Reunion brochure and the Reunion Registration form are separate files.  Open the brochure to read/print if you like and open and print the registration form as this form must be mailed in with your registration fee.  Address is on the form.  See the special Reunion Brochure/Registration Form section below.  The official reunion dates are 22-25 July but we do have a tour option for those getting there early.  An all day "Early Bird" tour of the area is available on Wednesday July 21st.

There are two hotels: Lake Wright Quality Suites and Sleep Inn in Norfolk.  The hotels are on the same property and they share the common area and lobby so you can choose which hotel you prefer. There are two rates;  The Quality Inn is $129/night and the Sleep Inn will be $109/night (plus taxes).   The rates are good 5 days before and 5 days after if your'e planning a longer stay in the area! The hotels also offer "free" airport shuttle service to/from nearby Norfolk International Airport! Some of the highlights of these hotels include: Complimentary full hot breakfast with either hotel (this will save you a bundle of money), Complimentary hospitality room (here's where we'll socialize and relive some great Concord moments -  We'll also have some snacks and beverages (of all types) available!   The hotels are linked below - YOU SHOULD CALL NOW TO MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS!  Call the number below for either hotel - Don't forget to tell them you are with the USS CONCORD reunion and tell them which hotel you'd like!  If you would like to read about the individual hotels, the links to each website is provided below!

Tumbling

Golf anyone?  Steve Larsen has been in contact with the hotel for a possible golf outing -  There is a course at the hotel.  Cost is  $34 for 18 holes which includes cart and club rental and the green fee! So if you don't want to bring your clubs, you can still have a great day of golf for a modest price!  We'll coordinate this event at the hotel after arrival.

CALL EITHER 1-800-228-5157 or 1-757-461-6251 TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS!

REUNION ATTENDEES:  Gather all your CONCORD cruise books,  photos, memorabilia, and anything else from your AFS-5 days and bring them with you to the reunion.  It's load of fun to spend some time looking at all the items that bring back so many memories!   If you have some items you wouldn't mind donating, perhaps we could have a little auction at the banquet to raise some funds for the Association!  There's a thought!!

Look who's coming to the reunion!
